Posting to X (Twitter)

How X posts are charged, the daily and connection limits per plan, and what to do when you hit a limit.

Overview

X is the only platform with a per-post API fee. X moved to pay-per-use pricing in early 2026, and every published tweet costs us a real fee that we pass through transparently in AI Credits. Every other platform (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Google Business Profile) is free for us to publish to, so there is no extra charge.

This page covers what posting to X costs, the daily and connection limits on each plan, and how to handle hitting a limit.

What this page is for

  • Understanding why X is the only platform with a per-post credit cost
  • Knowing your daily X tweet limit and connected X account limit
  • Knowing what happens when you hit a limit
  • Choosing between waiting, topping up credits, enabling pay-as-you-go, or moving up a tier

What posting to X costs

Credits are only charged when a post is actually published. Drafting and scheduling are free.

  • Plain tweet: 2 AI Credits
  • Tweet that contains a link: 22 AI Credits (X charges 13x more for these)
  • Thread: each tweet counts separately (a 5-tweet thread = 5 charges)

The 2 and 22 credit costs map directly to X's published prices ($0.015 plain, $0.20 with a URL). We pass them through at the standard 1 credit = 1 cent rate with only a small margin.

Daily X tweet limit

Applies across all your workspaces, on a rolling 24-hour window (not midnight to midnight).

  • Free trial: 1 tweet per day
  • Launch: 10 tweets per day
  • Scale: 50 tweets per day
  • Agency: 100 tweets per day

Threads count per tweet. A 5-tweet thread uses 5 toward your daily limit.

Connected X account limit

Total X accounts you can connect across all your workspaces. Connections are shared across workspaces you own, so the same account is never counted twice.

  • Free trial: 1 X account
  • Launch: 2 X accounts
  • Scale: 8 X accounts
  • Agency: 25 X accounts

Connecting an X account by itself does not cost credits. The recurring cost only kicks in when you publish, refresh your inbox, or open analytics for an account.

What happens when you hit a limit

We refuse the next X post with a clear message. We never charge for posts that did not actually go out, and we never silently add overage charges.

If you hit your daily X tweet cap

The limit resets on a rolling 24h window, so the simplest fix is to wait it out. If you regularly bump into the cap, moving up a tier raises the daily limit (Launch 10, Scale 50, Agency 100).

If you run out of AI Credits

You have two options:

  1. Top up credits any time from your billing page. Top-ups are billed at the standard rate ($0.01 per credit).
  2. Enable pay-as-you-go billing so additional usage is automatically charged to your payment method at the same standard rate. Once enabled, you keep posting and your card is charged per credit beyond your included monthly allotment.

All other platforms keep working normally while you sort out credits. Only X needs them for per-post API cost.

Step-by-step tasks

Check your current daily X usage

  1. Open the billing or usage page in your account.
  2. Find the daily X tweets line for the current 24-hour window.
  3. Compare the count against your plan's daily cap.

Enable pay-as-you-go for X

  1. Open the billing page.
  2. Add a payment method if one is not already on file.
  3. Enable pay-as-you-go billing.
  4. Confirm the standard rate ($0.01 per credit) and that the setting applies once your monthly credits are exhausted.

Move up a tier

  1. Open the pricing page.
  2. Pick a tier with a higher daily X cap (Launch 10, Scale 50, Agency 100).
  3. Complete the upgrade. The new daily cap applies immediately.

Tips and gotchas

  • A link anywhere in the tweet triggers the 22-credit charge, including bare domains like example.com. Removing the URL drops the charge back to 2 credits.
  • Threads are not a free expansion. Each tweet in the thread is a separate charge and counts separately toward your daily cap.
  • The daily cap is per account, not per workspace. Posting from multiple workspaces shares the same daily pool.
  • Connection caps apply across workspaces too. Connecting the same X account in two workspaces still counts as one.
  • Reconnecting an X account you already had does not count as a new connection.
